Iran has launched a barrage of ballistic missiles toward Israel on Friday night, in direct retaliation for an earlier Israeli strike that targeted Iran's nuclear infrastructure.

According to Israeli officials, the initial Israeli attack, carried out early Friday, struck a critical component of Iran’s nuclear program. The operation reportedly resulted in the deaths of several Iranian nuclear scientists and senior military figures.

A U.S. official told ABC News that the United States had no involvement in the Israeli strike and did not provide any military support.

Israeli Military Confirms Deaths of Iranian Nuclear Experts

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that nine senior Iranian scientists, described as central figures in Iran’s nuclear weapons program, were killed in the operation.

“These individuals played a key role in Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons,” the IDF said in a statement. “Their elimination marks a significant setback for the Iranian regime’s ability to develop weapons of mass destruction.”

Renewed Israeli Airstrikes Target Tehran

The IDF announced that its fighter jets are preparing to resume strikes on strategic targets in Tehran. Earlier, Israeli forces reported that dozens of targets were hit overnight, including surface-to-air missile systems, in an effort to degrade Iran’s air defense capabilities.

Continued Clashes and Civilian Casualties Reported

On Saturday morning, the IDF confirmed the interception of multiple unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran, as military operations continue.

Emergency services in Israel reported that a man and a woman were killed overnight when a missile struck near residential areas. An additional 19 people were injured in the attack, raising the civilian death toll from Iran’s retaliatory strikes to three.
